Anti-anti-bacterial ⇒

Was listening to my weekly Quirks & Quarks podcast today and I heard a very interesting story about anti-baterial soaps and cleaners. The first interesting thing was a study done by the FDA that showed that there was no actual benefit to washing with anti-bacterial soap. You might as well just use normal soap instead of paying extra for the anti-bacterial one.

Secondly, it turns out that the chemical compounds in the anti-bacterial soap don't break down and make it all the way out...

Learning from the French ⇒

When in France, we quickly discovered that very little was open on Sundays. Only a few restaurants and some tourist attractions were open. We asked why, and were told that Sundays are for spending time with your family, so why does anything need to be open? Upon our return, we have decided to adopt that tradition. That means we will do our chores on Saturday, and on Sunday we will spend time with family and friends. The only thing we will shop for is food as we quite often don't decide...
