As you may guess by the title, we have renamed our darling baby. Gone is the very pretty, delicate "Elise". In its stead is Squeaky, The Truffle Pig Dalzell. Got a nice ring to it, eh? Why such a drastic change after only a few days? Well, we decided that her name should be reflective of her actions. Whenever she gets hungry and I am holding her (which is quite often as she seems to want to feed about every 5 minutes!!), she scrunches her legs up and starts snorting and...

Prettiest Girl In The World ⇒

I would like to introduce the newest member of the DL household, Elise Rayne Dalzell. She was born at 8:44am on Tuesday, September the 6th at St. Paul's Hospital. She is 21" long and weighs 7lbs 9ozs. The labour went extremely well and Christine came through like a pro! Fortunately, we were able to come home yesterday and not have to spend the night, due to the fact that we have a midwife.

A Burrowing Owl ⇒

All you BC wine lovers out there probably thought this was an entry about Burrowing Owl wine (have you tried the Merlot? It's fantastic). Actually, it's about the burrowing owl I have been transporting for the last 10 months. Every night between 8 and 8:30 or so, the bump tries to burrow its way out. It is 8:38 right now and the bump has been vigorously rubbing my bladder with its head for about half an hour now. How comfy.

Well, here we are with one day to go until our due date. No sign of any baby action yet except that the bump has FINALLY dropped. Normally they drop about 2 weeks prior but ours, like its mum in the morning, is finding it just too cozy to contemplate coming out.

My midwives had a couple of theories: 1. There is plenty of room in my pelvis so the baby just sort of bobs in to take a look and then comes back out again thinking "yup...plenty of room and I know where I'm going so I'm...
