Being sick sucks! ⇒
Remember that illness I had at the end of the Inca Trail that started as a hangover? Well I have only just got rid of it!! I thought I had things under control as we entered the jungle, but apparently I celebrated (with a Pisco Sour, a beer and a full dinner) a little too early! The next morning (in fact starting at about midnight) I felt awful, and the symptoms continued until late last night. This morning was the first symptom free day...whew!
Regardless, we had an excellent time in the jungle. The lodge was amazing! The rooms had one open wall facing the jungle, the bar was well stocked (not that I used it, but...), the staff were super-duper friendly and the sounds were awesome! Our activities included a 37m canopy tower, a botanical garden, a catamaran trip on a lake, a fruit farm, a clay lick and a night walk. All nicely interspersed with many siestas...a very relaxing way to end the trip. Sure was hot on the last day though; I couldn't sleep last night due to excessive sweating!
This is the last update from Peru as we start making our way home tomorrow morning. I will organize all these entries into their own section when I get back and can integrate some of the pictures we took. We look forward to seeing everyone again!
Adios from Peru!
