Well, it turns out that I didn't get that job at ActiveState:

Sounds like a reasonably typical PFO. I have discovered though, that I am not the first person to be refected by ActiveState this way. There have been others who had a very successful first interview and then rejected due to "lack of qualifications", when clearly those people (and me) could acquire all necessary skills.
Oh well.
