I finally broke done and bought a wifi router. Took me a little while to get everything working, but I am now posting this while watching TV!! Woo hoo!
On a side note, does anyone know why if I put an '@' sign in my WEP passphrase, I get two different keys on the router and then card? Both are Linksys, so there is no good reason for it. Really weird.

Well, it only took 4 hours, but I think I have my system back up and running. Whew! For those of you that care, I backed up all my data on CDR, reformatted my HD and then installed the latest OS from Apple, Panther.

Can you believe that it took two reasonably intelligent CSc grads over an hour to get a Linksys 802.11G card to talk to an Airport base station?! Dave's Airport was set up with some security so I needed to enter a magic number to get access. Usually you enter a simple passphrase that is translated into this magic number.
