Man, do I ever love Statamic and how easy it is to use.
I just added yearly and monthly archives. To get there, add the archives/year/month at the end of thedalzells.org/blog like this.
Was pretty easy once I figured out to use Routes and the since & until tags.
After I switched to Statamic (from Wordpress) and imported my old posts, I noticed my site was quite slow (3-5 secs).
Turns out when there are multiple entries that resolve to the same slug, Statamic's caching doesn't work that great. Once I found and fixed the duplicates, the site got better but still not great (1.5-3 secs). My framework, Bootstrap, requires jQuery so I changed from using locally hosted copies to CDN versions. After Boris' talk on blogging I committed to blogging more, but only on a platform that I controlled, where my data is easily readable convertible.
I wanted either a static site (Octopress, Jekyll) or a flat-file CMS (no database) that understands Markdown. I also wanted one that had a chance of lasting, so I was looking for a paid system with support and an active community. This lead me to Statamic.
