Behold, The Deck! ⇒

When we moved in, we knew we had to replace the deck. Our original intent was to just replace the existing one with a non-rotten one.

Once we got the deck down though, we changed our mind.

We figured, "Why not make it 3 feet deeper and 6 feet wider. And while we're at it, why not put a playhouse on the stairs along with a slide?"

Death by Bouncy Castle ⇒

Elise has always been wary of bouncy castles and who could blame her, really? They are usually full of raucous kids bouncing around with little control in a small space. For some that would be fun I suppose, but for Elise that has always been a situation to avoid.

Now THAT’S a deck! ⇒

When we moved in, we knew the deck needed replacing. Then we discovered our neighbour was a builder and he offered to do it for us. Yah us!

The thing you have to understand about Rick, is that he is a cowboy. And he loves making decks. And he likes to Build Things Right™.

The original deck was 7 by 14 with rickety, rotten, slippery stairs. The new deck is 10 feet by 22, with a covered playhouse AND a slide (and a swing if Rick can figure out how to do it). All new 60 mil vinyl,...
