She Read it Here First ⇒

It's been a long time since I've posted about a first for my girls but one happened recently that is note worthy. Elise read her first book last night. The night before that, she had read all the large print words in Dr. Seuss' Hop on Pop which was wonderful anyway but I got an early reader out of the library and she read the whole thing herself.

She was very proud of herself. "I can READ!!!"

Switching Blog Engines, Need Help ⇒

For the longest time I have been using pMachine/ExpressionEngine for our site. It has been a great tool and a great company to work with but I have reached the point where I don’t want to have to work to maintain it. I also don’t really care about how my site looks and acts as long as I can: 1) easily post 2) people can easily read

So, next up, figuring out which platform/Tool to use. If anyone has any opinions on these, I’m all ears: 1. blogger.com 2. typepad.com 3. tumblr.com 4....

Since we have decided to home school our children, I have become very interested in how people learn and how I can help my kids learn. Being a techno-geek, I of course, am looking into how technology can be used effectively.

Our kids love the iPad (and iPhone) and when they are using it, it is an extremely immersive experience. This makes me think that if there were some entertaining and educational games that the kids would learn things very quickly.
