Switching Blog Engines, Need Help ⇒

October 20th, 2010 by

For the longest time I have been using pMachine/ExpressionEngine for our site. It has been a great tool and a great company to work with but I have reached the point where I don’t want to have to work to maintain it. I also don’t really care about how my site looks and acts as long as I can: 1) easily post 2) people can easily read

So, next up, figuring out which platform/Tool to use. If anyone has any opinions on these, I’m all ears: 1. blogger.com 2. typepad.com 3. tumblr.com 4. posterous.com 5. wordpress.com

My goals are really simple. I’d like to have comments, post articles, links and photos, reference my Flickr photos and pull in my twitter stream. Bonuses would be categories/tags.

I’ll report back on my findings.

Update 1: Typepad is a paid service, so that eliminates that one

Update 2: Blogger is too hokey and Posterous doesn’t seem well designed. Tumblr is v. well though out and I really respect the ex-head Marco Arment. However it is awkward to have multiple posters and I don’t like the thought of another service having control over my data and access. So it is wordpress with a v. simple theme. Rolling out over the next few days.
