Friday night I had my (almost) monthly poker game. It was scheduled on short notice because I found out that a friend was moving away and we needed to help him get rid of his Canadian dollars! Dale Reimer, an ex-boss of mine is moving to Charleston, South Carolina!! Turns out his wife got a job teaching out there recently, so they are uprooting and movin' to the south. We wish them best and I hope that Dale finds something to do with all his time!

Christine Enters “My First Triathlon” ⇒

About 2 years ago Christine decided she wanted to enter a triathlon. The only problem was that she didn't know how to swim...not a stroke. So last January, she finally took swimming lessons and last weekend she pushed, pulled a dragged herself across 400m from one end of Harrison Lake lagoon to the other in 15:38, finishing 208th out of 380 in the swim (ok...not the best swimmer of the bunch but certainly not the worst!) The bike and run went much better and after a 20 km bike ride...

When I first heard him, I was taking my favourite course, Music 308: History of Rock & Roll. This was a fabulous course that explored the roots, politics and social aspects of modern day music. It was, of course, taught by a hippy (I don't remember his name). It was also the course I got my worst grade in!
