We arrived back in Cusco yesterday with me still feeling under the weather. The 3 hour train and bus ride didn't help! We had hoped that our plane tickets for the Amazon would be waiting for us at our hotel so we could figure out what time we had to leave the next morning, but they were't. D'oh! So off I went in search the elusive tickets. I checked the other Hotel Garcilaso and the GAP hotel that we will be staying at later, but the tickets were't there. I did, however run into a GAP...

Day IV Machu Picchu The Incas were amazing engineers who really paid attention and respected the earth. They strongly believe in keeping the Pacha Mama happy. For example, they never carve the mountain unless for religious purposes. They only use rocks that have fallen from the mountain so they figure the Pacha Mama doesn't want them any more. Machu Pichu!!!!! ⇒

Wow. Wow. Wow. What a beautiful site!! When we got there on day 3 in the late afternoon (about 3:30pm) the sun was just starting to go down and all the tourists had left, so the place was empty! We didn't actually go into it as our tickets were for the next day, but we did sit up by the sun gate and look around. I can't explain how magical it was to be there, with nobody else and our guide playing his wood flute. The notes just sailed across the air...very surreal! We had a great group...

I fought the trail ⇒

And the trail won! We were supposed to do the trail in 4 days, but because our group was so strong, we manage to get there (to Machu Pichu) in 3! In day one, we bought the all important walking stick (for 3 soles) and met our porters. All we have to carry is a little day pack and the porters carry everything else! Doesn«t sound to hard does it? The first day wasn«t too bad...a little up and a little down. Not too bad. Lunch was a pleasant surprise...a 3 course meal! First some nice...
