Sticker Charts Galore ⇒
Trying to get Daniella to try toilet training and she is just not interested. So, I am not going to push it but she wants a Plum Pudding figurine so she has been willing to at least sit on the potty in exchange for a sticker. She needs 10 stickers.
Elise wanted to get in on that action so to earn stickers for her chosen treat (Orange Blossom) she is practicing printing her letters. For practicing letters for 2 minutes, one sticker. For printing words for 2 minutes, two stickers. For practicing sounding out, 3 stickers. She need 20 stickers.
My daughters wanted me to earn a toy as well so I have to practice my own writing every day. For writing 15 minutes, 1 sticker. For 1/2 an hour, two stickers. For 1 hour, 3 stickers. If I don’t write, I lose a sticker (gee thanks, Erin) I need 30 stickers. At least with this incentive I may actually finish writing my book in time for my spring self-imposed deadline.
Say, did you know I am writing a book? I am writing a children’s novel for middle grade kids (age 8-12) about a Changeling trying to get back to the Otherworld but the doorway has been destroyed by Urban Sprawl. I am about 1/3 of the way through based on the average number of words for books in this category. I love writing it. I sometimes come home from the library and say “You’ll never guess what happened in my book….”. It’s neat to be surprised by what happens when I’m the one making it up. Sometimes my characters just do or say things that make me go “oh yes. Of course that’s what should happen.” A few people have read a couple of chapters and have found it funny (at least grown ups like it!) and one friend of mine actually kept reading, unbeknownst to me. She just couldn’t stop apparently. I am waiting for feedback from two kids of the age group who volunteered to read what I have so far.
Well, time to go put my sticker on my chart. 2 down (I wrote yesterday too), 28 to go!
