The ‘80s Exorcism ⇒
For those that were at our house warming party, you saw how 1983 our house was. This house was built in 1983, decorated once, and rented for many years leading up to our purchase. It was, in fact, one of the reasons we liked this place so much...all the renovations we could do to it.
And in true DL fashion, we refused to wait for minor things like money to do the renovations. Everywhere we turn, we see something that we would like to replace, and most often I go buy it at Home Depot, then come to my senses and return it. Most times.
Since we've moved in (on Dec 3rd), we've:
- painted the girls' room pink
- new pink light for the girls' room
- replaced the kitchen faucet (old sprayer didn't work)
- new Bosch dishwasher
- put in shut off valves in kitchen and en suite (between '81 and '89 shut offs were not required...sheesh)
- garage door opener
- new drop ceiling in the suite
- replaced faucet in main bathroom (girls couldn't turn them on)
- replaced sink in main bathroom (too ooky to put back in)
- painted laundry room and put in office, including wiring
- put in brand new Low-E windows everywhere, including the patio door in the suite
- new blinds (I refuse to put up the crappy venetians on our new windows) in the living room (who knew 10 foot blinds would be so expensive!), dining room and kitchen
- painted playroom with neat play scene
- painted the kitchen, our bedroom and our en suite
- knocked down interior wall to open up main living space
- taken down all wallpaper in hallway
- new light fixtures in play room and our bedroom
- new door in the kitchen (old frame was rotting)
And the Pièce de Résistance...The Deck. To be continued above.
