The Other Shoe ⇒
A few weeks ago, Daniella was very sick with a stomach bug. About every 48 hours she'd throw up a number of times. For the hours in between she seemed fine. Luckily (well not for me) I was the only other one who got the bug. Poor Erin started his Valentine's Day fishing me out of the bathtub at 6 in the morning because I had fainted. This was a first for me. Anyone who knows me knows of my fear of vomiting but I thought, as I sat there on the edge of the tub, there was not enough mind over matter to prevent it this time. "This is horrible!" thought I as I sat there waiting for it to happen. The next thing I knew I was in the tub, sweating and bewildered. Luckily, we hadn't set up our bathroom properly and I was storing toilet paper in the bathtub which cushioned my fall--what a great commercial that would make, can you imagine it?
Anyway, I waited and waited for the other shoe to drop. In other words, when was Elise going to start. She has never had a stomach bug in her three and a half years. We've been lucky.
Well...dear readers, the other shoe has dropped. With a vengeance. Elise is so sick right now. It started with a cough and cold on Friday. On Tuesday the fever and sore throat came. On Thursday morning, the rash. On Thursday afternoon, the vomiting. Today, she's just lying there, spotty and pale. I took her to the walk-in clinic yesterday, alarmed by the rash and 48 hours worth of fever. Doctor says it's just a virus and we have to wait it out.
Daniella has a cough as well so I am hoping and hoping it will not be the same thing Elise has developed. I hope to not write any more about this.
Update: it's not a virus, it's Scarlet Fever. Nice.
