New Feature - Fact O’ The Day ⇒

October 28th, 2006 by

I have decided to add a feature to this much ignored journal that will hopefully force me to post more often, a Fact O' The Day. Quite often I am reading the news and I discover some quasi-interesting useless bit of trivia that I need to share. Unfortunately, not many people care about such useless drivel, so instead, I will post it in the hopes and someone can get some use out of it!

First up is something that I read about in Wednesdays Vancouver Sun, the Tsukiji Market. This fish market is the largest fish market in the world. Some salient facts:

  • 26 hectares
  • $30M worth of fish, every day!
  • 1700 fish stalls
  • 52,000 people go through it every day

To get a handle on how big it is, I saved the most amazing fact of all for last. 17% of the worlds fish go through this market! HOLY CROW!!!

More details can be found in the Vancouver Sun.
