Some Thank Yous ⇒

September 21st, 2006 by

Now that Elise and I have survived our first year together, we have some very important thank yous to say.

Grandma and Grandpa Dalzell have been an absolute godsend. Starting when Elise was only 6 weeks old, Mavis would come up for a couple of hours once a week so I could go to the gym or do whatever to take break. They babysit regularly. Mavis brings us food to put in the freezer. Colin has spearheaded many construction projects in our house, the most recent being converting our mudroom to an office so we would have more space for Elise's toys. They are there for us always. Now they are doing a split shift on Mondays to look after Elise while we are at work. One less day at day care which is great for her!

Nanny and Grandad Dencer who can't see her as much as they would like being a bit further away and having three other grandchildren but Dad has painted our house and Mum has made some beautiful clothes and a quilt for Elise. They are also my sounding board and emotional support.

Aunties Karen, Andrea and Jacks, my sisters and my best friends in the whole world. Always a (very long) phone call away. I am so blessed to have three sisters I actually would choose to spend time with, even if I didn't have to!

Erica and Chrissann my second best friends in the whole world and the sisters I got to choose. Experienced mothers, advisors and shoulders to cry on.

Les Filles au Vin Rouge - my girls who stay in touch with me with random phone calls and who don't let me drop off the face of the earth in the suburbs and family life. Cheers!

Sherry, Sherry Boberry - Elise Godmother and my very good friend who sadly shares my sense of humour. Well, not "sadly" but let's say unnerving to those around us.

Charlotte, my new friend, fellow tea drinker and walking partner. I met Charlotte in my post natal class and she only lives a block away from me. We figure we were basically separated at birth. Maybe one day Elise will actually like her daughter Isabella! In the mean time, we'll force them to play in the same room while we drink tea and gab.

The other mums from my post natal class: Susy, Ainsley, Candice, Karen, and Elizabeth. It has been great sharing this year with you all. Also Shelley my hiking buddy.

All our friends, who if I try to list them all I will surely forget someone. The folks on the Island, Erin's poker gang and Scotch club, Colleen and Kenny, Kristen and Jennifer, Amy and Alex (our babysitter in training)...I could go on and on!

The people of Salem. (Days of Our Lives. Unreality TV. Funnier than most sitcoms while trying to be so serious....) Don't look at me that way! You knew this couldn't be all sappy!
