Elise’s Christening ⇒

February 28th, 2006 by

We had Elise christened yesterday (that's British for "baptised"). She was christened in St. Mark's Anglican Church in South Surrey by Rev. Peter Klenner. My mother made her a beautiful traditional christening gown of white satin with Scottish lace down the front but added a narrow band of Dalzell tartan around the middle.

The ceremony was made extra special because the other baby being christened that day was Isabella Fetterly, one of Elise's friends we met through the post natal group we did. The Fetterly's live just a block away from us so Charlotte and I have been going for walks almost daily since we met. It was purely a coincidence that she planned Isabella's christening at the same church on the same day! Another thing that made it really special was that, also by coincidence, the prayer that was said just prior to the ceremony was read by our next door neighbour, Anne Schreck.

Elise's godmother is our good friend Sherry Baumgardner who has committed to helping me teach Elise about God so that when she is older she will be able to make an educated choice to believe or not to believe. What a lucky girl she is to have a Sherry Godmother!

It was a big day!
