Ladner Is Out ⇒

Christine and I have been looking around for a new place to live for a few months now. One of problems we are having is figuring out where we actually want to live. We have some friends who live in south Surrey, some who live in Coquitlam and PoCo and I have some co-workers who live in Tsawassen, all of which really enjoy where they live. As I work in Richmond, living in the east doesn't make much sense so it must be south.

Last week we went looking in Steveston, which is the only part of Richmond that we like. We found a beautiful brand new condo, but is was too expensive for us (at least for a condo). I think we have decided that we don't want to buy a condo, even though they are typically very nice. I want a at least a small yard and condo usually don't feel homey, although this one felt pretty good.

Yesterday, our real-estate agent set up a viewing at a place at the corner of 154th St and 20th Ave. As soon as we went in, we felt like we were at home. It was the perfect layout for us as it had a kitchen, kitchen nook, seperate dining room and living room all on the ground floor. Then all the bedrooms where on the top floor. It felt really cosy and warm, and if it hadn't been right on the corner, we probably would have put an offer in on it.

Then today we went to look at places in Ladner as we heard that they would be much more affordably. The problem is, is that we don't like how it feels. It feels kinda blah. All the houses look similar and there is no character. So we decided that Ladner was not right for us.

Since we were down there, we scooted down to Tsawassen, which it turns out, has a much better feel. We liked it immediately. We just drove around to see how the places looked and ended up finding 4 open houses! The first place was quite nice and worth considering. The second one was too much money ($450K) but was an amazing, older rancher in phenomenal condition. We could move in right away, and after it was updated, it would be stunning! The other two were waaaaay out of our pricing range so we didn't spend much time looking at them.

We are still looking for the "right" place and I am sure we will find it soon.
