Bad Omens ⇒
Today has not been a good day. I am hoping all my bad luck happened today so that tomorrow will go well! It started with me forgetting my passport when I left for the airport this morning. Thankfully I have an amazing wife who realized it, called me and drove out to the airport and delivered it to me! Ya Christine!!
Then when I got into Chicago, I didn't see any ATMs so I went out to try to get a cab that accepted credit cards. No luck. As an aside, why wouldn't cab drivers accept credit cards? A lot of business people won't have local cash when they arrive. The only ATM was in the Hilton in a different terminal. About a 10 minute walk over and then a 10 minute walk back.
My cab ride was supposed to be only $16, but because I was in a city going out of the city, I had to pay meter and a half, and the total came to $35!! Yikes! After I get into my hotel room I discover that I have left my cell phone in the cab! Shit! Double shit! I call the cab company, but all they can do is put me through to the lost and found, which closes about 30 minutes after I phone them.
The hotel was supposed to have free internet, but I discover that that is only the case if you are a member of Wyndham's ByRequest club. So, I have to apply for that and wait for that to get processed before I can access the internet for free. While I am waiting I decide to see what movies I can watch tonight. Except that it turns out that my silly tv/remote doesn't work. For some reason, I can't get to the movie listings to order a move. So I am stuck watching baseball!! Yuck. Eventually, my ByRequest membership comes through and then I find out that I have left my ethernet cable behind! It is always in my bag so why did I take it out? I have to buy one from the hotel for $5!!
I do eventually get a hold of the cab driver (by calling my phone) and he brings the phone back, but I of course, have to pay him for his time. So the cab ride ended up costing me $60. Nice. I also managed to order a movie and watch Pirates of the Caribbean, which I will review later.
Whew, I hope things go better tomorrow!
