Many people have asked us how we like our new house. Well....the house itself is lovely and we love the neighbourhood but at the moment, I'm not really seeing the benefit! We've had a few minor surprises, inconveniences and domestic disasters in our first week.

First of all, before we had moved in we discovered something our house inspector had overlooked—a rotten kitchen counter top. Now...we wanted to remodel the kitchen anyway but we were hoping it wouldn't have to happen right...

Major Renos Still To Do ⇒

We have several major renos that we still need to do before we think the house is presentable. Of course there are several things that still need doing that are of lesser importance. The things that need doing, in the approximate order we will do them, are: * put in toilet and sink in main bathroom * tile bathroom wall * paint bathroom * figure out bathroom trim * choose new kitchen sink and faucet * replace kitchen countertop * replace carpet in baby's room * paint baby's room *...

Things I Have Learned ⇒

I have only been a homeowner for a few days, but already I have learned many things: * everyone needs a drill * it is much harder to do things the "right way" * our house wasn't done the "right way" * not all smoke detectors are the same size * the staff at our Rona rock!!!!!!!!!! * grouting is easy * some light bulbs are extremely difficult to get out * my to do list never gets shorter * I need help doing my speaker layout

The Move ⇒

Thursday was a crazy day for Christine. In the morning I helped dismantle the electronics and then I headed off to work and left the preggo to do all the work. The cleaning lady came at 7:30am do to the cleaning, but we sent her off to get a coffee until Christine got things under control. The movers showed up at 9am and were done by 10:30! Just as the movers were finishing, my parents arrived to pick up Christine (I had our only vehicle) and then they all drove to our house to start...
