If you’re Happy and You Know It… ⇒

Daniella's happy tells:

  1. She is always smiling. I think I may have mentioned that before.
  2. She holds her feet while laying on her back and kicks them. I think I would never be able to get up again if I tried this move.
  3. When she is laying on her tummy, she kicks her legs so she looks like a frog clapping its flippers. This looks specially cute when she holds her arms out to the side. Fly baby, fly!
  4. The wiggle dance. You have to see this to really get how cute it is but when she is so happy a smile just won't cut it, she also wiggles from side to side.
  5. When you say "hooray" she puts her fists up in the air. I didn't realize how short proportionally a baby's arms are but when they are raised as high as they can go they barely clear the top of her head.
  6. ...and now....she can clap her hands!

Daniella is 8 months old today. She had two huge achievements this month. One was learning to clap her hands which she did for the first time on December 1. She is very proud of her achievement and when we say good clapping she gets and ear to ear grin. The great thing about this is now I can start teaching her sign language. This is when I started with Elise and it worked really well. The second was to sit on her own for a few minutes at a time. I still wouldn't leave her without a cushion behind her on a hard surface but she is pretty sturdy now.

She also cut another tooth so now we are 8 months old with 7 teeth. It will be handy for her having all these teeth when she moves on from mush to small finger foods. She enjoys munching on her safe feeder so I think she'll really like chewing on bits of toast. She tried some new foods this month including mama's home made beef stew and chicken pot pie. Yum yum yum delicioso!

She is finally sleeping through the night again. She needs a feed at about 12:00 but then she sleeps through until 7:00 or so. This has been really great for me. She is still rolling to get around but her legs and feet are getting more involved so there is hope for crawling yet.

Things she loves: Eating cables. She actually rolls over to the side of the TV to get them! Touching papa's AV equipment. Biting shoulders. Going for walks in the stroller.

Things she doesn't love so much: Being left alone in a room. Going in the car late in the day. Having things taken away from her (poor thing! This happens to her a lot).
