The Sun Always Shines on Dee Dee ⇒

November 12th, 2007 by

Who knew the sun would shine so brightly in November? Daniella seems to get more and more cheerful each month -- how can this be? I mean she's cutting teeth like crazy and yet she doesn't stop smiling. It's a toss up between the smile and the hair as to which feature people notice first. Usually people go "Wow! Look at that hair!" to which D's face lights up and then they go "And so happy!"

We had her weighed the other day because at her six month check up she hadn't gained enough. She now weighs in at just about 15 pounds which puts her at the low end of normal weight gain the "they" likes to see in babies. But she's got these chubby little legs and a sweet little round face so you'd never know to look at her that she was small for her age. I have to admit, since she is healthy, that I'm kind of glad that she's staying small for a little longer since she is my last baby.

My Sunny D made my day yesterday by saying "Mama" for the first time. I've been working on it with her repeating mamamama for a few days and she's been studying me intently and the other night she actually made the sound. Of course, she doesn't really know what she's saying but it was still a new noise and I made such a big deal about it she thought it was hilarious. But then...she thinks everything is hilarious.

She's getting better at sitting up and can sit unassisted for about a minute as long as there isn't anything tempting nearby that she reaches for and causes her to tip over. She is endlessly curious about her surroundings and rolls all over the place to investigate new and mysterious objects on the floor. Poor Elise! She is having a difficult time learning not to leave her toys on the floor and so, as a result, poor Daniella is constantly getting things taken away from her. "Aw man! But it took me 5 minutes to get here to get that puzzle piece!" She has a little radar for things she's not supposed to have. She'll be surrounded by her toys but she'll inevitably goes for the little piece of Elise's funny felt faces that I didn't even see.

We haven't been overly adventurous with foods yet but she is interested in everything we're eating. She makes the funniest face when she tries something new. It's a look of utter disgust but then she opens her mouth for more. The other day she was sitting on my lap eating grapes in her safe feeder. Elise was beside us also eating grapes. Daniella kept dropping her safe feeder and going for Elise's grapes. So far her favourite food seems to be peaches. But then again...it just might be Elise's toys.
