A Thankful Heart is a Happy Heart ⇒
We've been watching Veggie Tales lately--it's Elise's favourite show. She is particularly fond of Madame Blueberry in which Madame Blueberry is blue because she doesn't like her stuff. She even keeps photos of the nice stuff her friends and neighbours have. When a Stuff Mart opens near her home, she goes shopping to buy everything that will make her happy. On her way there she meets a poor family celebrating their little girl's birthday with only a small piece of apple pie. But instead of being sad about it, the little girl sings a song about being thankful for what she has. Madame Blueberry continues to the Stuff Mart, buys so much stuff that her house falls out of its tree and is smashed to bits. By the time this happens, she has learned that having more stuff won't make her happy but being thankful for what she has will give her a happy heart.
A thankful heart is a happy heart. I'm glad for what I have, that's an easy way to start. So on this Thanksgiving weekend, I am thankful for all that I have: A loving husband, two healthy children, a lovely, cozy home that I own at least a little of and all the stuff within it, wonderful, loving and healthy parents (mine and Erin's), a close knit family and more friends than I can count. And I'm glad to be reminded that I should not take them for granted.
