Learning Abounds ⇒

Before Elise, I never realized how many learning opportunities there are in life. She is a very curious child so I am always trying to teach her about her surroundings.

Everything can be counted, coloured, named and explained. We have to repeat each word several times to help her pronounce it correctly.

Then there are the abstract concepts, like up, down, left, right, high, low, happy, sad, hungry, angry.

And I never realized how poor the English language is; never try to teach "left" and "right" while using "right" as "correct" as well. Sheeh.

She is soaking all of that up like a sponge and her speech is rapidly improving along with her vocabulary.

We do, of course, have to be very careful with what we say, as she is into repeating everything we say. That means that when I stub my toe now, I am a "goly gee whiz, gosh darn it to heck" kinda guy!
