6 Months Update ⇒
Elise is 6 months old already. I can't believe how fast the time is going and it seems to speed up each month. On Friday we had her 6 month check up. She is 7.76 kg (17 lbs) and 68 cm (nearly 27 inches) long. Still the 75th percentile for weight and the 90th for height.
She has discovered that her voice makes noise when she breathes in as well as out so she is constantly making squealing noises and she also likes to growl. Today my sister and I were walking in some nearby woods with Elise in a backpack and it sounded like she was trying to be a bear and a boar! Squeeeaalll Grrrrrr! Squeeeaaaall Grrrrrrr!
Elise smiles a lot. She is starting to laugh more as well but it takes a bit of prompting. Some of the things that make her laugh are my impression of Grover doing Near and Far, me saying in a bad English accent "allo, allo governor!", anticipation games where the finale is someone tickling her or gobbling her up, and me saying "oooga booga booga!" (I say "me saying...." because it doesn't seem to work when Erin says "ooga booga booga!" Getting a smile out of her requires a lot less humiliation on my part, thankfully.
She still only has two teeth but she constantly has red, red cheeks. When all her teeth are in, I wonder if she will look pale.
She is eating solid foods now. So far the only things she hasn' t liked are avocado and peas. I'm going to try each of them again soon though now that she has had a bit more practice. She loves carrots!
Thankfully, she hasn't started crawling yet. We are hoping she waits til we get back from France but that may be wishful thinking. So far she rolls onto her stomach then puts her arms out to the sides and kicks her legs then props herself up on her arms then repeats. She can sit up on her own for a few seconds and is pretty reliable sitting in her inner tube toy.
I'm looking forward to what the next 6 months will bring...but I don't want them to come too fast!
