The Tale Of Two Seats ⇒
What a difference a seat makes! I had to go to Montreal this week on short notice this week and had two very different flight experiences. As I didn't know when I was going to return, I booked Latitude fares, which give you maximum flexibility. This created an opportunity to apply my upgrade certificates so that I might fly 1st class.
On the way out, I was on standby for the upgrade and I managed to get the last seat available. Ahhhhh...what a treat. They take your coat, offer you drinks and feed you really well. I had an eggplant and cheese appy, followed by a nice salmon meal, with a gelato for dessert. Throughout this you are sitting in nice, comfy chairs with loads of leg room. To top it off, you are the first off the plane, so there is very little waiting around.
The flight back however, was a completely different story. Unfortunately, the flight was full, way full, so I was in the back with the rest of the cattle. Not only that, I was sitting in the row in front of the exit row, which meant that my seat didn't recline at all. Sucky. Then of course, the person in front of me had their seat all the way back. Extra sucky. To top it all off, someone near me had TERRIBLE B.O., which made breathing extra fun. Really sucky. All in all, I've had better flights.
Oh well.
