Three Weeks Old ⇒

We had a check-up with our midwife yesterday. Leanne (the other midwife on our team) FINALLY got to meet Elise. Normally they alternate one week in the clinic, the next week on call and doing home visits and births but when Elise was born, Ren had just started a two week on-call stint so Leanne hadn't had a chance to visit her.

She is doing just awesome! We are so lucky to have such a healthy, easy baby. She weighs 9 pounds, 7 ounces - that's almost 2 pounds more than her birth weight! She is getting a very strong neck and she is spending a bit more time awake (which is nice because she has such beautiful eyes!) She is learning how to smile at will - you can see her trying to get the corners of her mouth up when you play with her. She still gets those lovely "milk drunk smiles" which I haven't been able to capture with my camera yet unfortunately.

She is sleeping well (hooray for me!!) and the last couple of nights she has woken up every four hours to eat which means only one middle of the night feeding and one at around 6:30, after which we normally sleep for another 2 or 3 hours. Erin usually has a cuddle with her at that time then puts her in bed with me - quite the routine! I don't know if we can attribute this to Baby Wise or if she is just doing this naturally - either way, works for me!

We have also solved "La Fontaine Elise" spit up problem and I think my milk is settling down a bit so it's not pouring out as fast, which means less air and less spitting up.
