4 weeks to go ⇒
I'm now 36 weeks so I have 4 weeks to go before the due date. I am all set with supplies to get us started. My friends had a baby shower for me and we were absolutely spoiled by the generous guests! Plus Mavis took me out the following week and bought me the rest of the stuff I need which was so generous. I think the grandparents-to-be are excited. Mavis says she's ready!
Baby development is going great. I had an ultrasound 4 weeks ago which I wrote about. My midwife finally got the results and everything looks fine, although the placenta is still low lying so I get to go for yet another ultrasound next week sometime. The baby, apparently, has long legs--who knows where it got them from as I am the tallest person in my family at 5'6 and Erin is 5'9.5 but not with particularly long legs. Colin is tall so maybe it takes after him! The Dalzell may be strong in this one!
My belly is big and round like a basketball and all out the front of me! Supposedly that means it's a boy. I have no feeling on the gender, though my first instinct was that it is a girl but that was way at the beginning of the pregnancy. I am coping well in the heat (everyone asks about that). I tended to be on the cooler side before Bumpy so I don't think I am suffering anymore than non preggos out there. The only thing I really have trouble with is the heartburn and acid reflux. Now that's gross! I hope and I expect it will go away as soon as the baby is born. If that's all I have to complain about...well I count myself as one of the lucky ones.
The baby moves around a lot (Bumpy turned out to be a very appropriate nick name) and I have lots of Braxton Hicks contractions -about 20 a day. My sister informs me they are nothing like the real ones. My midwife told me yesterday that the baby is really easy to feel so she can tell exactly what position it's in and she can feel different body parts really easily.
Anyway I am ready for this wonderful pregnancy to be over and just dying to meet the new member of my family. Looking forward to sharing the news with you all.
