Homeowners!! ⇒

'Tis official, we are now home owners! Our deal closed on the 29th and we celebrated Canada Day by taking possession our wee house. Both sets of parents came out to see the place and to plan out the next couple of weeks. Both dads generously offered to paint the place and we needed to figure out who was doing what when.

Yesterday, we went to Benjamin Moore to pick up our paint so that Ray (Christine's dad) could start painting today. It was interesting as Ray had figured out how much paint we required, but when we talked to BM they halved it all. It turns out that you need to use less paint than normal with BM paint. Who knew?

Today was the realization that owning a house can get expensive. Already we have had unexpected property taxes, extremely poor carpeting that we have to replace and a rotting kitchen counter. Nice. And we also bought, a broom, a ladder and some paint stuff.

Tomorrow we are having a contractor come give us an estimate to redo our bathrooms. If his estimate is reasonable, we will probably do the kitchen as well.
