Onwards And Upwards! ⇒

I have been holding this news in for about two weeks now, and I can finally let everyone know!

Today was yet another reorganization of Epic Data. After all, it wouldn't be right to go more than 12 months without a change, right? After being in my Business Analyst role for all of 12 months, I have been promoted to a Solutions Manager! What it means for me is more responsibility, more tasks and for better or for worse, total accountability.

I am now one of 6 Solutions Manager; we combined the existing Business Analysts, who reported to the VP of Sales, with the existing Project Managers, who reported to the VP of Operations. The problem we were encountering with that system was lack of communication and lack of visibility. The new system ("The Way") puts one person in charge of the whole process from cradle (sales calls) to grave (implementation sign-off). The good news I have a good chance to affect revenue; the bad news is that I will be the one they blame if things don't go well!

I haven't figured out if this is a good thing for my career. Does make it easier to move into Sales or harder?

Anyway, I am really looking forward to learning all about revenue and margins and helping Epic become profitable again.
