I tried not to like it, honest! ⇒
Read a book and saw a movie recently that I really, really tried not to like. Honestly.
First up, Da Vinci Code. This book has been on the NY Times bestseller list for 79 weeks!! (if you don't have an account, check out http://www.bugmenot.com) Any book on the list that long, can't be that good right? Well, I got sucked in, just like the rest of y'all. Couldn't put the stupid book down! I don't want to give too much away, but the basic plot is that people are trying to find the Holy Grail by following clues left by Leonardi Da Vinci. It is quite a compelling story. For a quick summary, including spoilers, check out my favourite reference, Wikipedia.
The next reluctant enjoyment was Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. I got sucked into this while flying to Toronto yesterday (an aside...gotta love those overnight trips to Toronto...does good for your system!) . I was working (honest, I was!!) but I just couldn't resist the headphones. I just love Ben Stiller...I think he is one of the best comedic actors around. And Vince Vaughan is just cool. This movie is about dodgeball, specifically the ADAA (American Dodgeball Association of America). Really thin on plot, but a great, cheesy film. And I have to say that Ben's wife, Christine Taylor, is very good lookin', don't you think?
