Quality ⇒

Went shopping the other day. Why is it that I am drawn to expensive things? We go to the Bay to get some wedding gifts for some friends. As we are looking in the kitchen section for the items from their list, we notice that Henckels are 30% off. We do need some new knives so we took a look at them, of course. And as usual, after trying the 4-star and the 5-star we decided to get the 5-star. Are they really that much better than the knives you can buy everywhere else? How can two knives cost almost $200?? Sheesh.

And then we walked by Grafton & Co (my favourite clothing store). Bad mistake. They had a sale on suits and I need at least one suit. So, we head in to take a look at the suit that is on sale. And again, instead of just going, "wow, this is a nice suit...I should get this one," I let the sales guy (who turns out to be an old friend!!) let me try on a Calvin Klein suit. Big Mistake. Turns out that the CK suit is significantly more comfortable and much better looking. What a shock. So we bought it...it was twice the price of the on sale suit of course.

So, am I wrong to believe that quality is important? Or am I foolish to think that things that cost a little more than the norm are higher quality? Am I being ripped off? The knives certainly do feel nicer than the others. And that suit sure does feel and look nice.
