Vegetarian? No Way!! ⇒
Christine's parents came out for a wee visit yesterday. We puttered around town and then intended to go out for Greek food at Kalamatas on Broadway. Turns out, however, that they are on staff holidays until the 16th and the entire restaurant was closed! Who'd a thunk?
So instead of a reasonably calm, classy dinner, we hoofed it on over to Memphis Blues, a Southern BBQ joint at Granville (not Oak, like I had thought) and Broadway. Memphis Blues has won the best BBQ house 3 years running in some poll. For good reason too! I don't think I have ever had meat that tasted so good.
Apparently, they only spend money on one thing...meat. You order your food from the counter and then go pick it up when they call your name. As MB virgins it was suggested that we order The Feast, which is a collection of all their meats collected in one convenient trough, I mean platter! The only vegetables were coleslaw and potato salad. The pulled pork was quite possibibly the best meat I have ever tasted...it just melted in your mouth. The Feast is quite the deal; $30 and more food than 4 people could eat! The wine (they have their own!) come in tumblers as does the bourbon (Wild Turkey for me).
I highly recommend it if you are looking for a meat feast. Even their salads had meat in them!
