Forest for the trees ⇒

Late last week I was very bitter at work. As you know, I recently got a promotion at work. My new job officially started on Oct. 13th and I was expecting to start my new role in the 3rd week of October. In fact, I already had my non-refundable plane tickets booked as well as my hotel room for the trade show in Philadelphia. Then the Monday before I leave I get told that I can't go and that I have to code a little bit longer!! Man, was I ever upset!

After I had calmed down I looked at the big picture, I realized something. Here was a company who was willing to throw away over $2000 in plane tickets so that I could code. Must be something important then, eh? Then I remembered that everyone needs to be thinking about what is best for the company, including me. So, I have code for a couple more weeks? Who cares? Will it make a difference in my new role? Not at all! However, I am quite excited about the 19th of November as that is the date when my developing days are over!!
