Elimin8 ⇒

To celebrate Canada Day, we decided to play in a unique Ultimate tournament called Elimination Eights. It is a normal game of ultimate except for two interesting quirks. First of all, you start off with 8 people (4 of each gender) on the line instead of 7. Second, everytime your team scores you lose a player! Neat, eh?

For our first game, we ended up playing the eventual champions. So as one might expect we got killed. I think when they beat us, we still had 7 people on the field to their two. Our second game, against the eventual 3rd place team, was better as we got down to 5 people. We were slowly beginning to get the hang of it. By the time we played our 5th game, we actually got ahead of our opponents! We still ended up losing, but it was very close. That team put out their best players for the final 2 on 2, but we decided to put out players who hadn't done it before, so it was not quite an even match. Our 6th game was an embaressment...we were just soo tired and drunk and dehydrated that we could barely muster some opposition.

However, we had a great time and I will definately be going to this tournament next year. And it turns out that we ended up raising almost $1000 for charity...go Ulty players!!
